Monday

Let's see, for the Typhoid Report of the day-Steve is still stuffed up and hacking, and I'm more on the mend. I woke up in much better shape today, still hacking, but not nearly as ill. Kaylee's still good. :)

I again spent my day in a pretty mundane way. Laundry, dishes, sending off the airport billing, getting out property taxes, paying bills, taking Kaylee to cheer, answering a few emails, just...stuff.

On the home from cheer tonight we stopped at a little deli to pick up some soup and sandwiches. While we were waiting, someone came into the place and Kaylee leaned over and whispered to me "What if this person was going to rob the place? Would you put your hands up and let them?" I told her that if someone comes in with a gun to rob a place, it is wisest to stay quiet and let them take money, because money isn't worth getting hurt. Well, then this started a whole path that went through when do you just let things happen and when is it okay to fight back, which led to her asking about abduction. I found it a little uncomfortable to be telling my seven-year-old not to ever let someone take her to another location, but she listens. I told her about it, told her to never go quietly no matter what anyone said, not to let them move her to a second location, but to run, fight, yell, scream, no matter what they said, and she responded quite logically and calmly. There's another one of many lessons that I hope she never has to remember.

Well, that's not a cheery note to end on! How about this...

Be on the lookout for signs and symptoms of inner peace:

* A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experiences.

* An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.

* A loss of interest in judging other people.

* A loss of interest in judging self.

* A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.

* A loss of interest in conflict.

* A loss of the ability to worry. (This is a very serious symptom.)

* Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation.

* Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.

* Frequent attacks of smiling.

* An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make them happen.

* An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it.

WARNING: If you have some or all of the above symptoms, please be advised that your condition of inner peace may be advanced.
