Rat Race

This was one of our last sunshiny days for awhile, as our forecast is calling for gray and rainy for about the next five days. So, I got plenty done while I could. I hit the post office twice today, two banks and a store. Went to lunch in town, and caught up on some work and personal stuff at home. Then it was time to get Kaylee from school, and she came bouncing out of there for some reason. Oh yes, because she is now on Fall Break!

Kaylee got her "Science Lab" book orders in today, from school. She wanted these crime lab and science lab kits, so I got them, and after school today we did one of the science experiments. We mixed milk with white vinegar, microwaved it, strained it through a coffee filter, and took the resulting curds and shaped them into a flat disc which Kaylee drew a face on. It has now hardened into plastic. Sour milk stinky plastic. One chemical reaction, one science lesson, a bit of a mess and a little fun; Check. :)

And then it was time for The Great Adventure. Kaylee and I hopped in the car and headed to...Chuck E Cheese! We met up with Nathan, Tre, Holly, Jamie & Gwenie, Roger, his wife and their three kids, Chuck and Steve. You know, we all agreed that Chuck E Cheese improved their pizza from the last time we had it. I got salad bar and breadsticks because I generally can't stand their pizza, but I had a piece tonight and it was actually decent. That's good news, because it's generally hard to kill pizza! The kids had a great time and ran around collecting tickets while we sat around and ate and chatted. Kaylee ended up with a little plastic snake and a giant red moon ball for her prizes, and she was quite pleased with the end of her day and the beginning of her Fall Break.

I've got a few pictures I'm probably going to put up somewhere, but I'll link to those after I get them up. In the meantime, Chuck gave me a few he had on his camera. This one is of me shutting down the T-6 after my last lesson with Jim. I do believe that is a smirk or a smile that I am sporting along with that nice radial-engine-induced Mohawk helmet-head hairdo I've got there. Not a very "pretty" picture, not overly flattering, and yet for some reason it still makes me smile. ;)
