Steve and Kaylee slept on the deck last night, and I had the rest of the house to myself. I had the opportunity to actually sleep in this morning too, and I was still the first one up. There is something wrong with that! I woke up at 7, got up around 8, and for some strange reason was motivated to get some stuff done. I made a good dent in even putting away laundry, dishes, all sorts of stuff.
I even got my pictures up. Here are the photos from Indian Hills, and here are the photos from the Pork Festival Parade. It was a fun day, and I think this photo expresses that well. :)One other thought from yesterday-a parade will really bring out the 'real' in kids now and then. Kaylee was initially polite and waiting for fairness to kick in and others to be polite enough to let her get candy too. When that didn't happen, she was diving in grabbing candy with both fists. Once we moved positions and were now going candy-hunting with friends, I had to pull her back aside and remind her that it was time to go back to playing by polite rules, and not to take all the candy she could reach at the expense of her friends. It's pretty interesting to watch the dynamics of kids as they all race for the candy, try to maintain societal politeness in some cases, and yet still get all the candy they can for themselves. I was glad to see our three sharing with each other, swapping candy for favorites, if a bunch fell by one, they'd divide it up amongst the others. Not because their parents told them to, but because they thought it was only fair. Now if adults could only figure that out too. ;)
I went out to Glenndale to do a Discovery Flight, and we had a good flight. We went on top of the clouds, did some maneuvers, all that fun stuff. It was a busy one at the airport, too. Indian Hills was still going on, I believe, but Glenndale had its share. I was only there for 90 minutes, I flew for 45 of those minutes, and the rest of the time I was fueling up an airplane, taking the money for a transient airplane who stopped in to refuel, signing a student endorsement for someone, etc. It is a beautiful day to hit the skies, for sure.
I ran a few errands on my way home, and then will be spending the rest of the afternoon/evening with the family... :)
