I finished reading "The Shack", and I certainly found it interesting. If I start getting into a book review on it, I'll talk too much for even me, so I'll just suggest that anyone interested in issues such as spirituality, loss, grief, God, religion...most if not all of the "hard" topics relating to God, pick it up and read it some time, with an open mind. However, I would also suggest you have some quiet time and space in which to read it, because as good as I am at tuning out what's going on around me when I read, even I had to actually concentrate on this one. It got pretty heavy. There were several things in there that Steve and I had talked about years ago on how we felt on them, one in particular that I wrote up in an email years ago and saved and send off whenever someone asks me "How could God let this happen". Another on the role of "religion" in spirituality. The roles of man and woman in marriage. There were also a couple things that I had never thought of before that I found kind of interesting. Anyway, it was a deep read that used small words. I don't know how to put this, but it was a thought-provoking and intelligent book written in such a way that it almost seemed overly simplistic. In other words, it wasn't a great novel/story per se, not nearly as eloquent as Jodi P. for example, but you sure could pick up a lot of thoughts to feed on if you're willing. I'm going to do something I haven't done in awhile, and re-read the book. Sometime Later.
Not a lot has gone on today, and that's just fine. :) Steve grilled out burgers for lunch and steaks for dinner, all quite tasty. Kaylee slept on the deck with Steve last night (and *I* slept like a Rock in my own bed!!), and they spent some time playing, wrestling, and all that fun Daddy stuff. Later, Kaylee's friend from next door came over, and she was quite happy to have someone her age to go play with for awhile too.
It was a good, quiet, peaceful summer day. :)
