This morning started bright and early with Steve and Kaylee and a couple of other people getting up at six something a.m. to go to breakfast. I was decidedly un-hungry, so I chose to get up at 7:30 a.m. after those few brave morning souls headed out, instead. We relaxed for a bit this morning, just kind of sitting around and talking. The days' events began with lunch, after which we went to the lake beach and went swimming. It was Kaylee's first time in the water since last summer, so she started off a little hesitant, but her cousin Micah was in the water with her, and pretty soon she was splashing and going down the water slide and having a good time. We were all out there in the swim area, when the lifeguard blew the whistle and yelled that she heard thunder and everyone had to get out of the water for at least 30 minutes. Fortunately we'd already been there for a good while, so we just went back to the cabin and changed clothes, and then five of us went to the arts and crafts building and each made a gel candle. I did a light blue in a martini glass with glitter, sea shells, blue and white glass stones, etc. to do a more 'sea scape' looking thing. Kaylee had a champagne glass with a pink base, light blue center, and orange top, filled with candy canes, shells, a rubber ball, all sorts of miscellaneous things. We had a fun time doing it.
On our way from the craft building, Kaylee started yelling. We thought she was just being a little over-tired and over-dramatic, because she just said she got some of the scent up her nose. Well, unfortunately, she got a LOT of the scent up her nose, she inhaled it, and it burned. It burned her nose, her upper lip, and down her throat. So she races into the bathroom, tries to blow her nose, I give her carbonated beverages to try to get it out of her throat, and finally Steve just flushed water over and over her nose, down her throat, etc. until it finally quit burning. Poor thing.
The whole burning nose thing put us a little behind schedule, but we ran over and made it to archery, where I learned that I pose no threat to Robin Hood's Merry Men. ;) Kaylee actually hit the target a couple of times, but it's hard for her to pull the "string" back as far as she needed to in order to get the distance. But she did pretty well-even the ones where she didn't hit the target, her arrows flew straight. I had two out of 15 shots where I missed the target altogether-the rest of the time I hit usually in the upper right quadrant. You'd think after 15 shots I could adjust my aim, but no, apparently not. I think I need glasses.
We left archery and showed off our gel candles, then headed to dinner, after which we fed some fish, took a walk, came back and relaxed. Kaylee went to watch a movie with Micah, ("The Incredibles"), and the rest of the evening is back in the cabin, snacking and chatting.
It was muggy today, and we had some rain, but it didn't interfere with anything we were doing. I took way too many photos, I think making up for my lack of photos lately...
