Scouting

I finished running all the errands today that I couldn't do yesterday because everything was closed for the holiday. I made it to the store to restock, I got my checks ordered (I've only been out of checks for four months now), I got even more laundry done, I hit my usual errands.

Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law, Cathy, whose actual age I won't publicly mention now that she's past 29. ;)

Kaylee stayed with her grandparents this evening while Steve and I went to the Kokomo Country Club for a Boy Scout Awards Ceremony, dinner, and business meeting. Glenndale Airport received a plaque for having the Boy Scout Troop (the Flying Squirrels) for forty years. Steve and I went (because we've been the sponsors of the group for quite awhile now) with Steve C. and his wife (he is the current head of the 'Squirrels'), Steve K. and his wife (he is a former long-time Squirrels leader), and Les W. and his wife (also a former and long-time leader). The food was really pretty good, in fact much better than the last time we ate at the country club. The gentlemen at the table tried to tell us that this counted as taking their wives out to a nice restaurant for dinner, but I don't think it worked on any of the wives. ;) Something I thought was ironic-Steve is a former Boy Scout. In fact, a former Eagle Scout and top level of the Order of the Arrow. And nobody at the table knew that except me. Steve's former Scoutmaster was there tonight, and actually came up and recognized him and spoke to him for awhile. Kind of neat. :) When we first arrived there, you had to check in and get your name tag-the lady behind the desk said "Oh yes, here you are, I see you are a guest of the something something something." I just smiled and nodded and agreed, even though I had no clue what she had just said. Les did the same thing behind me, and we found our reserved table and just relaxed. We even saw the man who helped buy the Squirrels' first airplane ever. Three guys chipped in $100 each many years ago, and bought a Cub for the kids to learn to fly. It was an interesting way to spend an evening anyway. :)
