One of these days I'm going to have to take the time to figure out how to do my own template for the blog instead of the 6 (or so) options they give me. But I think I'll like this one for awhile. I've flirted with the idea of making my blog closed to the public, open only to those I "invite"; not because I say anything that interesting, but because then I would know who was reading, and I wouldn't have quite so much personal info on the World Wide Web. I've always had it so that my blog doesn't end up in the 'listing' of blogs, and I have it set so that the search engines won't "crawl" it. I *think* this has helped, since I've never had someone I don't know post a comment, have never had to "lock" down my comments or anything like that, as many people I know with blogs have had to do. But when I tried out the feature of shutting it off to the public, I realized that it would be a fair amount of hassle for anyone I did invite who wasn't already a Google Account Holder and/or overly computer savvy (aka many of my family/friends, no offense intended) to then be able to get in and read the blog. So...for now I'll leave it alone. Aren't you glad you spent the time reading this paragraph of me talking to myself for no good reason? ;)
Do you know we have more snow coming? Another Winter Storm Watch? Are you tired of me saying that yet? Well guess what-I'm tired of living in it, too! I've always kind of liked snow, but this is Ridiculous. We are supposed to leave town this weekend for my birthday, and it's going to be sleeting and snowing all the way from here to where we're going. That pretty much rules out flying, and depending on how bad it gets, driving may be tricky too. Bah Humbug. :)
The Dress for school today was "Wacky/Tacky Day". The kids were supposed to wear the weirdest combination of clothes and hair they could. Kaylee chose to wear something that was in better taste than many of the combinations she has picked in the past to wear on a normal day! But I left her alone. :) She did pick two different colored socks and two different colored shoes (one ruby red, one bright gold), so *that* was effective! I put her hair, uncombed, up in a 1980-something side-of-the-head ponytail. It looked like a rat's nest. She really liked that. ;) I did not take pictures because we were running too close on time today, but I'm sure we could recreate it if need be.
I had a very productive morning. I got something taken care of that has been bothering me for a long time, and that always feels good. I got some things shipped off for SMA Support, I got banking and mail runs done, a couple more errands complete, then on to Glenndale where I did a little bit of work on the computer before we went to a late lunch.
Kaylee had gymnastics today, and there were two ladies in front of me, one of whom complains to the other Every Week about the gymnastics class. Today she complained for 35 minutes almost non-stop, to the point where I was not able to concentrate on my book or my daughter. Finally I piped up and made a couple of polite observations and then changed the subject. I don't usually converse, but I would rather have to converse about something pleasant than listen to any more negative commentary, and that worked well, just to talk about something else fun and nice. :) It's amazing how draining negativity can be...
Steve and Kaylee are having a Fake Poo War. Kaylee likes to "get" us with stuff. With me it's usually this big stuffed fake spider that still makes my heart jump if I stumble on it unaware, even though it is obviously fake. Just the shape of a giant spider is enough to get my adrenaline up. With Steve, it's the Fake Poo she got for her birthday. So this time, Steve decided to get her back, and he laid that big piece of Fake Poo draped right on her toilet seat. So she goes in there, and suddenly she yells across the house, "OHHH GROOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! MOMMMMMMY!" and runs across the house to me. Finally she realized it was fake, and she looked at me, I said "Not me!" and she goes to the other bathroom and leans against the wall and we can all hear her say in this threatening voice "Daaaaaaaad!" So she gets him back by putting it on his pillow. So he gets her back by putting it on hers. The latest one was today, when he put it in her gymnastics bag where she found it while changing clothes for gymnastics. Of course she then hides it in my Purse, where I pull it out in public before realizing what's happening. Yes, this family acts with the utmost proper decorum at all times, you know. ;)
Another friend does "Thankful Thursdays", and it never hurts to take time to remember the small and big things for which we are thankful. The things that pop in my head for today?
I'm thankful for...
The help of family and friends in ventures both new and old.
Unwavering support.
Amazing opportunities.
Kaylee's smile.
Warm laptops-and cats-on my lap.
A hot Cafe Mocha on a cold winter day.
SPRING-if it ever actually gets here. ;)

Laura-I love the new layout! And I love her polka-dot dress! I have a think for polka-dot and I must say, she does them well! She looks beautiful and you're right, that was a precious smile. Hugs-Julie
