I don't know if that's a song or not, but it sounds vaguely familiar, and if it's not, it should be!
I went to bed shortly after midnight, and then laid in bed until 2 a.m. I couldn't get to sleep for anything, but was too tired to get up and just do something else. (I did listen to Kaylee breathe for awhile and she seemed fine.) Then I had to get up early this morning for a flight during the coldest day of the year so far. Our windchill was sub zero I do believe. I had a trip to Danville, Illinois with a student doing his first cross-country trip. This meant I had to teach him to navigate using just a timer, a map, ground reference points, and a little plastic "whiz wheel" which is kind of like a slide rule only round and for pilots. This is the kind of stuff my GPS does for me automatically these days. It was kind of fun following railroad tracks, roads, power lines, rivers, and cities and determining if our ground speed was what we figured it should be, if the wind was blowing us off course, all that stuff that did I mention my GPS does automatically for me these days. ;) Well, it was fun for something reminiscent, but I'm done traveling like that for real, thank you!
The flight was supposed to be over with before noon, but we ended up not being done until 1 pm. I was pretty hungry, so the boys who were at Applebees already ordered me something and had dessert while I wolfed down a quick lunch. After that Steve needed someone to go get the RG from Muncie where it was in for repairs, so Chuck and I went right back out to Kokomo to take the other 172 over there and get it. Of course nothing could go completely as planned. Muncie didn't have the plane ready. Then they got it ready but they put something on backwards that I needed to be frontwards. They fixed that, and finally we were on our way and getting late. I go to put the RG away in its hangar, and the other plane in there is taking up all the space. So I have to open the door all the way, move the Cheyenne around, then put the plane away, close it up, and Chuck and I go put away the other airplane. I've left my keys somewhere, and now I REALLY have to go because Kaylee has a final cheer practice before her first game tomorrow night. Kaylee is with me from lunch on by the way. So, we hop into the car and bust out of there, run home, leave the car running and pick up her cheer shoes, cram some supper down on our way out the door, and go right to cheer practice at 6:30. I get home around 8 pm, which is about 12 hours after I left my house this morning, and come home to well over 350 emails since midnight last night. I spent much of the day very cold, and a good portion of it a little frustrated at stuff not going the way it was supposed to. But...we all survived. So far. ;)
Tomorrow at 7 p.m. is Kaylee's first Cheerleading Live and in Public Experience. Her group is cheering for the highschool boys at North Western High School at half time. Her next game is Saturday night at Western. I'm holding my fingers and crossing my breath ;) that these girls can pull this off even halfway. It's a really hard routine for girls this young, and it's fast-paced. As long as Kaylee keeps up and Grace doesn't get smacked by other girls doing roundoffs into each other, we'll be okay. I'm definitely taping this. ;)
