Ahhhh

The birds are all coming home to roost finally! The Citabria is back it its hangar, the RG is back in its hangar, and the Baron is back in ITS hangar as of today.

I woke up this morning to an email that said "Want to go get the Baron today?" Well yes, yes I do! So after I dropped Kaylee off at school, I scheduled the plane, checked the weather, filed the flight plan, then Nathan, Chuck and I loaded up in the Saratoga and headed to Missouri. It was a pretty day, clear, but *windy*. We had winds against us at between 40-50 knots. That's a lot. It took us 2 1/2 hours to get somewhere that should have been under 2 hours. The Saratoga has been known to have starting problems now and then; I hadn't had any problems yet, so I figured my time was due. Fortunately, I was mostly wrong. It was dicey for a minute there in Missouri, but she fired up. We flew home together, VFR (not talking to anybody but each other and not on a flight plan). I took off first because I'm slower, and I got about 18 miles out before they took off. When they caught up, they slowed down and flew just behind me and to the right. It was a nice view all the way home! Plus, the winds that hurt us on the way out, well, they sure helped on the way home. We climbed as high up as we could without having oxygen on board, and let her rip all the way home. Well, *I* let her rip; they slowed down to keep up with me. :)

It was COLD today though. I think the high was 34, and the winds were blowing into the upper 20 knot range, which made it even colder. So this morning the lock was frozen on the hangar door and I couldn't get in for awhile. Then Chuck and I couldn't keep the tug running to pull out the plane, because it was too cold. And this afternoon when we got back, I half froze waiting for the fuel truck, getting the plane put away, etc. My hands and face were almost numb on the way to pick up Kaylee. Fortunately, Chuck and Steve C. didn't leave me the job of pulling out or putting away the plane by myself. That one is admittedly a bit of a bugger to do on your own. :) A tug that stayed running in the cold and stayed on the plane when you were pulling on it would be great, but hey, it works. Sort of.

I was up until 2:30 a.m., then had to get back up just after 7 a.m., which didn't bother me all day until right about now. I could really use a nap. But that would definitely be a Bad Thing at 7:13 p.m. Right? *yawn*

Kaylee had a good day at school, except for getting an "F" on a paper because she hurried too quickly and didn't pay attention to her work. Steve has been Super busy flying almost all day, and it's been cold and windy, and HE was up until 2:30 a.m. too. He's got to be one tired dude...

Tomorrow night we're having company over and the house isn't ready for it. So I know what I'll be doing after I leave Glenndale's Lunch. :) Which reminds me, I need to pick up Lasagna for tomorrow's Glenndale's Lunch...

Yeah, I think I'm done rambling. I'm tired...
