I spoke to Kaylee's teacher today and discussed a few things quickly. I'm still uncertain as to the right course of action, but...for now there seems to be an understanding.
Tomorrow morning I am giving a First Flight to a reporter and a photographer in a 172 for a story out of a newspaper north of us. Steve told me I can't say the words "Hey y'all, watch this", or do anything to make them fear for their lives. Such a party pooper he is. ;)
Then it'll be lunch time at Glenndale, and then time to pick Kaylee up from school, then on to Tipton to pick up a little friend, and then down to Mt. Comfort for the airshow weekend. Busy day I have coming-and man, I'd better get cracking on laundry and packing tonight!
Ty and I flew the Baron for about an hour, doing all that fun single-engine emergency work. Flew around for awhile at 6,000' with one engine fully stopped. It's always a little odd for folks to look out and see one of your engines fully stopped in the air. In the Senecas we had, I'd only do one of those prior to the checkride, because restarting the engine was always an ordeal, and, well, not getting it restarted isn't exactly great. They are required to demo one for the checkride though, so it's prudent to actually try one rather than doing one for the first time ever on 'game day'. In the Baron though, it's a complete non-event. It restarts just beautifully, with no hiding from the nervous student the effort or secret sweating or quiet murmuring of "come on baby, GO!"
It is Bloody Hot today. Air-sucking-out-of-your-lungs, effort-to-breathe, stuck-to-yourself HOT. Ugh ugh ugh.
A quote and then I need to go get some prep work done for tomorrow and the weekend!
"Those who don't get their feet wet don't catch fish."
