Monday Arrives

Today Kaylee and I got up and ready, and I drove her over to her former school for her first day of "Summer Camp" there. It's not a literal camp, they only stay from 9 am through noon for 5 days. The theme for the week is "Under the Sea", and Kaylee was very excited to go and see some of her friends. :)

After I dropped her off, I hit the post office and then went out to the office. Did some computer work there for awhile, and then took out the Citabria and flew to Kokomo to pick up the last time sheets for the billing, out of the Saratoga. On my way to Kokomo, I noticed quite a few big old cloud build-ups in the area, growing fairly tall, so I figured some unstable conditions were ahead. I landed, got the time sheets, and was taking off when I got woken up for the morning. I was a couple hundred feet in the air when the engine took a pause. I didn't catch whether RPMs dropped or not, but the noise level dropped and my forward momentum dropped. I had just enough time to say "Whoa", look at my remaining runway and think "oooh, this is going to be close", and get ready to initiate a major slip, and it came right back up. Just a flat second or two. I glanced at all the engine instruments and they were green and fine. Checked my fuel level and it was fine. I climbed up to 2500' circling the airport just in case I needed it, and then headed on back to Glenndale uneventfully. Moisture in the fuel maybe? I dunno. The winds had picked up some then, and last I knew they were an 80 degree crosswind gusting to 16. I figured a storm was coming, but when I got inside and looked at radar, it really never did develop into anything right over us. Just smoothed out, calmed down, and quit building up around us. That works!

Around 11:30 I left, and went to the bank to do something Steve wanted. The lady who helped me was supposed to call in someone else. That person wasn't answering the phone. I needed to leave to get Kaylee, so I did, and said I'd come back. I picked up Kaylee, and she had had a Blast. She was so excited. :) We headed out to Wendy's to pick up food for Steve & Chuck, and then I stopped back at the bank. The thing was done, and I did something else there, and headed to the office, where I found out I wasn't supposed to do the last thing I did. We were there for a couple of hours and then I left, stopped by the bank for the THIRD time that day, fixed the last thing I wasn't supposed to do, and we headed home.

Kaylee played outside, swinging, playing in the water hose. We had a good time today...

Now I have to go fold and stuff 100 bills into envelopes. Fun! ;)
