Family Day and Boring Flying Stuff

I stayed up way too late the last two nights. I just really like being up after most of the rest of the world (around Kokomo anyway) is asleep. It's quiet, and peaceful. Probably how those crazy early bird people feel before the sun comes up, only without the "WHY am I awake when the sun's not even up yet??" fuzzy crabby feeling I get that early.

After I got ready in a leisurely manner, I headed out to Kokomo and flew the Baron for awhile. Basically I went up and practiced multi-instrument/ATP checkride maneuvers. My left steep turn I lost 50 feet the first time, but the right one I didn't lose a thing, and the next left one I did was right on too. Slow flight I had nailed, stalls were fine. Single engine stuff was no problem. Instrument approach was on (at least today-won't promise next week!) Vmc demo no prob. So I decided to play with the stalls a little bit. The Baron breaks pretty fast and hard in some circumstances...for example, a nice cross-controlled stall had me whipping over to the left in what would be best described as 'attention-getting'. Whee-haw! :) Do that in the pattern and you'd better be daggum fast. Better yet, let's not do that in the pattern. I even had a pretty landing today, and nobody along for proof. My landings and I have been mildly at war with each other, so it was nice to visit briefly with the good old days. lol

Today was a nice family day. It was 80 degrees outside. Eighty. Ahhhhh. Blue skies, light breezes, enough sun that Kaylee got a little sunburn even though she had sunscreen on. We put up her pool today, which excited her greatly. You can see the photos from the day up on her site. She played outside most of the day, and then went for a Corvette ride with her dad. We even took the cats outside today. Dulce had free roam until she tried to hop the fence. Roadie was a little freaked out, and we kept her on the leash; but they both really liked the Spring air. She was talking non-stop most of the afternoon. That girl can TALK when she's in a good mood. :)

It was a nice day of sitting out on deck chairs, having some drinks, playing with the pool, and listening to our little motor mouth go to town. Every kid should get to swing, splash in water, play in the yard and enjoy a sunny spring day. The joys of childhood...
