Friday Fun

This morning after Steve left, he called me to tell me there were two rather large dogs wandering the neighborhood, and to watch for them. I thought "ah, they'll be gone by the time we leave." Nope. Actually, by the time we went to leave, they were wandering around our back yard. One was a large all-white albinoish Pit Bull with no coller. The other was a big brown mean looking something-or-other. I sat there and looked at them for a few minutes, not being a big dog fan in the first place, but they weren't leaving and we needed to in order to get Kaylee to school on time. So I put on my puffy coat and walked outside, which got their immediate attention. The stopped and just stared at me. I couldn't remember if you're supposed to avoid eye contact to not be confrontational and avoid attack, or to maintain eye contact to show no fear and keep them at bay. So I stared at them while I walked (as confidently as possible) and decided if they didn't like that I'd quit staring at them. They started walking after me, and I got to the garage-and they followed me, almost in. I thought maybe when the door went up and the car backed out they'd leave. Nope. They weren't aggressive, but they weren't passive either. They were a little on edge and tense but not attacking. I tried a firm "Go On! Git!" but that didn't work. Finally I parked the car close to our sidewalk, and went in and got Kaylee, and carried her out to the car with her in front of me and the dogs behind me. Big old mean looking dogs. When I got back later, they were gone. I'm glad I didn't have to run over them in the driveway-that would have been a big mess. ;)

After I dropped Kaylee off, I went out to Kokomo, and went flying in the Baron. I have flat hair, bad sunglasses, and no smile since I was trying to figure out which button to hit while holding it backwards, but there ya go, the wing of the Baron. :) I practiced a couple of approaches, and a couple take-offs and landings, flew for about one hour. It was nice! Then I pushed it back in, and went out to Glenndale for the Friday Lunch. We had about 36 people there today I think, which is pretty good. Chuck did a great job on the burgers as always, and the turtle pie was a nice top-off to the afternoon. ;)
Tonight we have company coming over, so I've been cleaning up some things around the house prior to their arrival, which should be any minute here. I'm updating now since I probably won't get to be online the rest of the evening. Thank Heavens It's Friday, right?
