Ah, Friday!

Friday is a good day. Today I took Kaylee to Kindergarten with a dozen donuts and two dozen home made muffins we'd done together, and about an hour later her grandparents arrived and they had a special day. They did a craft with a poem and handprint, and the grandparents made a pumpkin on paper thing, and then took her to lunch afterwards. She wore a pretty purple dress and had a purple butterfly ponytail holder in, and looked quite grown-up!

Then they dropped her off at Glenndale where we were, and we stayed there until...3 pm or so I think. Around 2 p.m., Nathan came blasting through (literally) in the jet. What a rush, even just to see it going down Glenndale's runway. Then by the time he pulls up, he's thousands of feet in the air in just seconds. Man I love that thing. There are only 10 Gnats currently flying in private ownership today, a friend of mine discovered. While she was at school, I went out to the airport, flew the Citabria a bit and worked out some kinks. I took my iPod along and listened to some tunes while I flew around and did some take offs and landings and just general messing around. Now that's the way to relax. Or as I call it, "de-twitch". The whole world is smaller from up there.

Then this evening, Steve, Kaylee and I all went to Indian Hills, a small privately owned grass strip not far from us, and had a big campfire, a steak dinner, some Mike's Hard Lemonade, and some good company with local friends. Kaylee ran around as always, barefoot and messy. What better way to be a kid than a cool summer evening by a fire, barefoot and dirty and snacking and happy? :)

Charlie started a fire with some kind of flame device that sounds like a jet engine, which is definitely a guy toy. I couldn't believe that thing. And I thought *I* was a pyro!! Geeez! Right around sunset, a trio of Citabria-like airplanes took off and gave us a little show, a couple of low passes in formation flight, etc. That's always fun too!

I've got some photos uploaded now at www.laurastants.com, the fun flying pages have been updated. And after I send this through, I'm going to work on uploading the few photos I took tonight, too. Here's one for ya. Kaylee watching the three arplanes taxi in after landing after their show for us. :)
