Hump Day

Well, today is Wednesday, Hump Day as we used to call it, back in the days before that could have been construed in a negative way. The weather was gorgeous today, but I spent most of it indoors. I had some things I needed to think through and talk through with people, and I feel lighter having done so. Then this evening I got a call and headed to Glenndale and did some flying in the Citabria. It was a nice break!

Last night we went to Nathan's house for a 4th of July party, and everyone had a good time. Lots of good food, good company. The kids had fun playing in the basement and the pool, and then when it got dark there was a home fireworks display, and all the kids did sparklers too (and nobody got hurt!), and then we raced in the cars to see the local town display too. Kaylee was sitting next to me on the tailgate of the Jeep, smiling, her fingers in her ears, giggling. She would make comments about this one or that one, and she finally got sleepy and started leaning on me a little. It was...peaceful.

I should have photos up soon, maybe tomorrow. One thing--Kaylee was the second oldest child there, but she was the least water acclimated. There were two year olds splashing and going under water and going down the slide, and she wouldn't leave the steps. Finally I convinced her to go out in a tube, and a very nice man (Chuck's son Brad) was in the water and he was REALLY good with helping her and being patient. I was there at the side watching, and Steve was too. Anyway, by the end Kaylee would go out in the tube on her own and swim around, and she was feeling better. I know if she'd go quite a few more times, that peer pressure alone would help her out in the pool. If only I could take her without having to get in a swim suit in public at a co-workers house in daylight. *sigh*

Oh, and today Chuck found an iPod on eBay for only $56 just like mine! It's funny, it has no accessories with it...which is PERFECT because I already HAVE all the accessories. It's a 15 gig iPod in white which is what mine was, exactly! I said if it comes and it smells like Kentucky Lake, it just had better work. Otherwise, it's like it was just there for ME. I'm so geekily excited to have "my" iPod back!

Guess that's it for now! Here's hoping for blue skies tomorrow!
